Acoustic Guitar Tuition made easy!

In this episode of Strumming Saturdays we are going to totally seriously change the rhythm we took a look at last week by simply adding a tie.

It's quite electrifying how different the rhythm sounds when you have 2 uninterrupted upstrokes.

So instead of playing DUDUD D we are now playing DU UD D. The rhythm now sounds more open and the 2 successive upstrokes creates a bit of rhythmical interest.

There's nothing wrong with last week's rhythm but infrequently a song needs a different approach when it comes to strumming.

Altering basic rhythms through the usage of ties, rests or ghost notes will allow you to come up with some engaging strumming patterns and adaptations.

The key however is to play a rhythm that fits in with the general groove and feel of the tune and supports the melody well.

As guitar players we usually end up sounding far more convincing when we play something that benefits the tune as opposed to just playing what we need.

Here's The Rub

So that kind of brings me to this point. We want to develop the necessary talents to acclimatize to different musical situations and play whatever it is that will serve the song the absolute best.

That's not something you learn in an instant, instead it's a extremely valuable ability that is developed over years. The more that you can play with other musicians the better.

After all the information gained from these acoustic guitar tuition does not truly mean anything unless it's applied correctly.

So there you have it. Add this strumming pattern to your rhythmical inventory and go and play with some other musicians.
